Join Our Journey: Admission Procedure for Prospective Grade One Students

We warmly welcome you to The Excelsior School! Our structured and thoughtful admission process ensures that each child finds a place where they can thrive. For Grade 1, we accommodate  a fixed number of students, and we’re excited to share an overview of the process:

1. Parent Interaction
   An important part of our admission process is the interaction with parents. This friendly conversation helps us understand your child’s educational background and any unique needs, while also sharing our school’s values and expectations. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other!
2. Eligibility Criteria
   • Age Requirement: We accept students who are between 5.5 to 6.5 years old at the start of the academic year. This ensures your child is developmentally ready for Grade 1.
   • Previous Education: Children should have successfully completed the Upper Kindergarten (UKG) curriculum to apply for Grade 1.
3. Application Process
   To begin, simply get the admission form online, fill it out, and submit it during the application period. Please provide your child’s birth certificate and the UKG completion certificate or equivalent documents for verification.
4. Eligibility Test (Written, Oral, and Reading)
   We conduct a friendly eligibility test to assess your child’s readiness for the Grade 1 curriculum. This helps us understand their basic reading and writing skills in both English and Nepali, as well as their ability to engage in simple conversations so that we can groom them better knowing their foundation.
5. Selection Criteria
   • Capacity Limit: We admit up to 108 students in Grade 1, ensuring a balanced and vibrant classroom environment.
   • Assessment Review: Admission decisions are based on the eligibility test, previous education, and age criteria.
   • Sibling Priority: We offer preference to siblings of already enrolled students, provided they meet all other admission criteria, fostering family continuity within our school community.
6. Admission Outcome
   After we’ve carefully reviewed the applications, we will personally inform you of the admission outcome through a phone call or a friendly meeting. For students who are accepted, we’ll provide clear instructions on the next steps to complete the enrollment process. We look forward to guiding you through this exciting journey!
7. Enrollment and Induction
   Once your child successfully passes the eligibility test, you can proceed with the enrollment process, which operates on a first-come, first-served basis. To confirm your child’s admission and secure one of the 108 available spots, simply complete the necessary steps, including submitting the required documents and fees and confirmation of the feasibility of transportation service if any. We’re here to assist you through the process and look forward to welcoming your child!
8. Introduction Session for New Parents and Guardians
   To ensure a smooth transition and a strong start to your child’s educational journey with The Excelsior School, we will be hosting a special orientation session. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you to get acquainted with the school environment, meet the teachers, and gain a comprehensive understanding of our curriculum, school policies, and how the academic session will unfold.

In this session, we’ll also guide you through the use of our school app, where you’ll receive login credentials to stay easily updated on your child’s access, progress and all school activities. Moreover, you’ll meet the bus teachers responsible for your child’s transportation, ensuring both safety and comfort during their daily commutes.
